Terroir Adventure Travel

Small group immersion trips for people who love culture, food, and history

Terroir Adventure Travel runs small-group immersion trips capped at 8 traveler and built around local guides, real itineraries, and enough unscheduled time to actually notice where you are.

Current trips run in Egypt, from Cairo to Luxor to Aswan to Siwa Oasis.

Starting at $3,888 per person.

Terroir (tehr-WAHR) is the distinctive character of a place, shaped by soil, climate, plants, farming, people, and culture.

Current Trips at a Glance

Luxor Immersion - 11 days
$3,888.00

Meet the group in Cairo for the Great Pyramids, then fly to Luxor and settle into one guesthouse on the West Bank for the rest of the trip, surrounded by gardens and farmland, not a new hotel every few nights. That's on purpose: you can't get to know a place by passing through it. You have to sit still in it long enough for it to start making sense.

From there, a private Egyptologist guide takes you through Karnak, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Deir el Medina, and the Noble Tombs, the sites everyone comes to Egypt to see. But this isn't a monument checklist: you'll walk through villages, wander the markets, bake bread and cook a meal with local hosts, and have the kind of conversations you can't have from a tour bus window.

Two of those nights are spent on a felucca, sailing the Nile the way people have for thousands of years. Swim in the river, eat what gets cooked onboard, and sleep under the stars while the riverbanks keep living their ordinary life right alongside you.

Capped at 8 travelers. Full itinerary: https://canva.link/terroirluxor

Once-in-a-Lifetime Luxor Eclipse
from $18,500.00

On August 2, 2027, the sky over the Nile goes dark for six minutes. This is one of the longest total solar eclipses of our lifetimes, and you'll watch it from the deck of a private Dahabiya sailing between Luxor and Aswan.

It's a 10-night immersion built around that moment, not a bolt-on eclipse tour. Three nights in Cairo with the Great Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, then a week aboard a traditional sailing ship with stops at Karnak, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Philae. A sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings. Licensed Egyptologist guides the whole way.

Capped at 20 travelers. Rooms range from a twin/king cabin to a balcony queen suite, priced per room, with all meals, transfers, and entrance fees included. A $10,000 deposit holds your spot; balance is due 90 days before departure. International flights, flights within Egypt, and gratuities are separate. Abu Simbel is available as an add-on.

Six minutes of totality happens once. Rooms are limited.

Aswan Immersion - 11 days
$3,928.00

Meet the group in Cairo and spend a day at the Great Pyramids and Saqqara before flying south to Aswan, one of Egypt's most beautiful and culturally rich regions. You'll settle into a welcoming Nubian guesthouse along the Nile, with time to experience the rhythms of daily life in southern Egypt.

Led by a private Egyptologist guide, you'll explore sites including the Aswan High Dam, Philae Temple, Abu Simbel, Kom Ombo, and Elephantine Island, while also discovering the living culture that makes Aswan special: walking through colorful Nubian villages, browsing spice markets, visiting museums, and traveling between islands by small local boats.

Midway through the journey, step into timeless Nile life on a two-night felucca sailing adventure: swim in the river, dine on freshly prepared meals, sleep under the stars, and watch palm groves, desert hills, and riverside villages drift past. Birdwatching excursions, home-hosted meals, and artisan visits round out the trip.

Capped at 8 travelers.

A camel's back and neck as it walks up a sandy, rocky desert slope towards a small structure at the top of the hill under a clear blue sky.
Several hot air balloons floating in the sky above a green field and distant mountains during sunrise or sunset.
